Jeanne Johngren has spent her life telling stories visually. Inspired by her travels in Europe and life seen through a filmmaker's eyes, she honed an aesthetic that she now brings to life in her 18K gold and gemstone creations.
Johngren views her gemstone creations as tiny sculptures. She studied art and art history at Yale University, as well as English Literature. After spending a year in Paris sketching art and architecture at the Louvre, Johngren moved to New York to pursue a career in film, combining her love of art and storytelling. She became one of the first music video producers on the scene, giving a generation their MTV, delivering artists such as Mick Jagger, The Ramones, and Bon Jovi into living rooms across America. Johngren also created commercials and short films for her production company Parallax Productions, Inc., located in the Tribeca Film Center. "I am driven to make things," says Johngren. "First it was film, now it is these exquisite miniature gemstone confections. I believe that people define themselves by what they do and by how they choose to appear in the world. Jewelry is a tactile, visual medium that aids people in the definition of self." Johngren's sense of design and composition is informed by classic architectural proportions and a sophisticated color palette. Her work is appreciated by jewelry collectors and Hollywood talent alike. Johngren believes that it is important to 'give back.' She donates a portion of her proceeds every year to charities. |
