Beth McElhiney attended Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. After graduating in 1986 she worked as a bench jeweler getting hands on training and also freelanced as a designer for jewelry companies. In a short four years she was already the production manager of a large jewelry manufacturer on 48th Street.

Two years later she entered the retail field working her way up to a high level management position on Madison Avenue for the Breitling Watch Store. At the same time she founded and was the President of the Madison Avenue Merchants Association. Eleven years ago Beth went to Martha's Vineyard for a weekend and never left. She became what is called a "wash-ashore" with no regrets.

Now she spends the quiet island winters developing her own collections and traveling. The summer season is for cultivating her ever-growing following of collectors who come to the Vineyard from around the country. She shows her work at her showroom in the summer and through trunk shows and limited retail stores off-island the rest of the year.
